What are the expectations for participating in the TMPE?

The Trademark Professionals’ Exchange is for trademark attorneys, paralegals, and other professionals. The TMPE is a place for respectful conversation, helpful resources, and community bonding. Solicitations, pitches, and trolling are strictly prohibited. Posting mean, rude, discriminatory, intolerant, or otherwise disrespectful comments will result in your being removed from this group. Together we'll make TMPE a space where the trademark community can thrive.

How did the TMPE start?

In 2022, Alt Legal team members Nehal Madani—founder and CEO—and Bri Van Til—Head Education and Community—created the Trademark Administrators’ Exchange as a dedicated community and resource for trademark paralegals and other administrators. After over 100 attorneys applied to join the group, they recognized the need for a broader community that includes not just administrators but attorneys as well. Our vision is for the TMPE to foster a helpful and supportive environment for the entire trademark community to continuously learn from and support each other.

What other resources would you recommend for trademark professionals?

In addition to the TMPE, there are tons of helpful and free trademark and IP resources in Alt Legal’s Resource Library. Organized by topic, the Library includes webinar and session recordings as well as informative articles written by the Alt Legal team and trademark professionals from around the globe. If you’re just getting started with trademarks, we also have beginner resources, including our free Introduction to USPTO Trademark Prosecution ebook and the free Alt Legal Trademark Paralegal Course.

Can I post about my services on the TMPE?

No. The TMPE is strictly moderated, and solicitation is not allowed. If someone else asks for professionals in your region or with your specific expertise, you are welcome to respond to the individual or the group to offer your services. However, keep the post simple and short, and avoid sending a sales pitch.

I’m hosting an event. Can I post about that on the TMPE?

You are welcome to post once about an event that’s relevant for our audience of trademark professionals. If your event is aimed at the general public or clients, however, it is not appropriate for the TMPE and will not be approved.

Who funds the TMPE?

The TMPE is brought to you by Alt Legal. We love trademarks, and we love the trademark community. We make trademark docketing software, which we think you’ll love. Check it out!
